Brad Brough, Marco Porsia: driving south-east through Dutch countryside…

Our mission: to find 'The Smoothies'.

They are a hairless, innocuous bunch that gather together in small packs to have picnics, family outings, and in this case enjoy the calming atmosphere of a sauna on a Sunday afternoon. They are mostly are found in small groups throughout The Netherlands, but have been occasionally spotted in other places around the world.

Low-key by nature, they welcome us into the fold. They bare their souls, their bodies and serve us beers. They invite us to lose our clothes and sample their shaving implements….we pass, but drink the beer.

We spend the afternoon with the Smoothies and deftly try to avoid 'looking down' all day to see just how smooth they actually are.

We bid farewell, exit the sauna bodily hair intact and move onto our next assignment.

This is the life.
